A very elegant lavalier pendant/brooch from the Art Nouveau (ca1900) period. This delicate piece is 9ct yellow gold and features a stunnning bezel set garnet stone at the centre. The garnet is a beautiful deep red and is surrounded by a vine-like design. Set within the surface of the gold are delicate natural seed pearls and dangling from the bottom is a single teardrop shaped garnet stone. The entire pendant hangs from a removable complimentary gold bail which is decorated with two additional seed pearls and a simple pin clasp to the back. The underside is stamped 9CT. This is a stunning design and a magnificent example of the period. It looks perfect worn on a simple gold chain and would make a lovely addition to any collection.
Weighs 3.6 grams
Worn as a pendant, the piece measures 27mm across by 47mm high (including bail).
The overall condition of the pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting and the garnets and pearls are all intact. The bail and pin clasp are both secure and in good working condition.
